I’ve you’ve left your case of beer out of the fridge and it’s gone warm, you may be wondering whether you can put it back in the fridge…
Beer fridges are the best way to store your beer as they keep it at the best temperature for serving, but can they fix a beer that has been left out to go warm?
Let’s find out in today’s blog where we will break some common myths around beer, what type of beer fridge you need and where you can get one.
Breaking Top 3 Common Myths
There are many different myths when it comes to beer and how you're supposed to serve, store and drink it. Let’s break down the top 3 common myths that you may be familiar with.
Temperature Fluctuations in Beer Lead to it Becoming Skunked
It is a myth that temperature fluctuations lead to your beer becoming skunked. The term ‘skunked’ refers to when the beer has gone through a chemical reaction caused by exposure to light or strong UV rays, leading to the beer tasting and smelling similar to a skunk’s spray.
Temperature fluctuations in beer do not lead to your beer becoming spoiled; it doesn't affect the taste of your beer at all.
You Can’t Put Warm Beer Back in The Fridge
Another common myth is that once your beer has gone warm or been left out all day, it can no longer be rechilled and consumed. If this was the case, all beer imported from Europe would be spoiled before you could even purchase it!
It is still important to store your beer in the fridge though as keeping your beer cool will preserve it for longer and keep it tasting fresh. Storing beer at room temperature will reduce its shelf life and make it taste bad.
Beer Doesn't Go Bad
Another common myth is that beer doesn’t go bad – this is false. Beer does eventually go bad. Whilst it isn't unsafe to drink out-of-date beer, it does affect the taste and the beer won't taste as good as it once did when fresh.
However, we don't recommend drinking out-of-date beer as it could contain harmful bacteria.
