Large Capacity Wine Coolers
If you have an extensive wine collection and you want to store it in the best possible way, then a large-capacity wine cooler is the way forward. Granted, if you are a casual wine drinker who has a decent collection, you can still benefit from the ample space and features provided. Large wine refrigerators can have a wine bottle capacity of over 100 standard Bordeaux bottles while taking into account the major storage requirements for wine.
The main factors to consider when storing your wine are sunlight/ UV light, humidity, vibrations, and, of course, temperature. Most wines are best stored within the range of 11°C and 14°C. White wines are best stored at the lower end of this temperature range, and fuller-bodied reds are best served at room temperature.
Our large wine fridges provide the ultimate conditions to preserve your wine. Not only do they maintain a steady temperature, but they also look great in your home. Whether you choose a built-in, freestanding, or integrated model, they can be the focal point of any room and make a great conversation starter when you have guests over.
Another important storage factor to consider is humidity. Too much humidity can lead to moisture gathering on your bottles, which can destroy your labels and encourage mould growth. Too little humidity, however, can be just as harmful.
It can cause the cork to dry out, ultimately exposing your wine to oxygen. This can destroy the texture, flavour, smell, and appearance of your wine in a matter of hours. This is why our wine fridges feature humidity regulation, ensuring that your wine is stored in the best conditions.
Some of our wine fridges also lower vibrations. Our wine fridges can lower vibrations as well as eliminate aromas inside your wine cooler using a charcoal filter. At Elite Wine Refrigeration, we have a wide range of large-capacity wine coolers available that can not only prep your wine for serving but also store it in the long term for ageing.
We have large-capacity wine coolers available from trusted brands such as Dunavox, Swisscave, Climadiff, Artevino, and many more. Why not check out coolers from the Dunavox Grande collection?
Large Capacity Wine Fridge Designs
Large wine fridges come in three main designs - freestanding, built-in, and integrated. Depending on the installation type, you can place your large wine cooler in kitchens, living rooms, garages, and even bars and restaurants.
Each of these designs has its own installation requirements to consider, which is why it’s so important that you follow the manufacturer’s directions when placing your large wine fridge. Failing to do so could not only void the warranty but also damage the cooling system and affect the quality of your wine. Read on to learn more about freestanding wine coolers, as well as built-in and integrated wine cooler models.
Freestanding Wine Storage Units
Large capacity freestanding wine coolers need to be placed with sufficient space around the unit - they aren’t designed to be installed in small spaces such as kitchen cupboards, under counters, or integrated into the wall. When placing a freestanding wine cooler, ensure that you have enough space around the appliance.
Most manufacturers require you to leave a minimum of 10 inches of space above the unit and roughly two to three inches of space around the rear and sides. This is because of the location of the vents - there needs to be enough space for their air to flow freely to prevent overheating.
Because freestanding units are so versatile, you can place them in various rooms in your home - whether it be your kitchen, living room, dining room, or storage room. You can even place freestanding units in a garage, shed, or patio space if they feature a winter system.
Most of the wine fridges in our large capacity wine cooler collection are freestanding - as freestanding units can be as large as you need them to be and aren’t limited to kitchen space.
Integrated and Built-in Wine Coolers
Built-in wine coolers are designed to be built under kitchen counters, which is why they are also referred to as under-counter wine coolers.
You can install them next to your other appliances, such as your fridges or freezers. However, avoid storing your wine fridge next to appliances that generate heat - as this could affect the internal temperature of your wine cooler.
Because the fans are located underneath the unit and the vents are located near the front, you only need to leave around 5 mm of space around the unit. It’s usually best to have this type of unit installed professionally to avoid damaging the unit and voiding the warranty.
Integrated wine fridges share many similarities to built-in wine fridges. However, they offer more of a seamless look, integrating perfectly into your kitchen space - whether it be wall space, shelving, or inside cabinet space.
Key Features of Large Wine Coolers
The large-capacity wine coolers we have on offer at Elite Wine Refrigeration are full of practical features - from glass doors to LED lighting and dual temperature zones.
Some other features include telescopic shelving, door locks, an internal heating element (for garage or outdoor placement), adjustable feet, a charcoal filter, and many more. Read on for some of the key features of large wine coolers.
Glass Doors
Our wine fridges protect your wine from sunlight, whether you choose a model with a glass door or a solid door. Our glass-door units have been UV-treated so the UV rays can’t affect the quality of your wine.
Some of the doors feature push-2-open technology - simply tap the corner to access your collection. Most large-capacity wine coolers allow you to alternate the door placement for your convenience. Although we don’t offer double-door models in this collection, you can find a double-door wine wall in our wine wall collection.
LED Lighting
You can proudly display your large wine collection thanks to LED lighting - whether you choose white, blue, or orange lighting. It’s easy to turn the lighting off - simply switch the convenient ‘off’ switch. Some of our models allow you to change the colour to match the mood or ambience of the room.
Multiple Temperature Zones
Most large-capacity wine coolers will feature dual-temperature zones or multi-temperature zones. A dual-zone wine cooler offers two temperature zones within the same unit, which is the perfect choice if you have a varied collection. This is because red wines and white wines have different serving temperatures.
Likewise, dual-zone fridges are a great choice if you want to store some of your collection for serving at one temperature and then the rest of your wine in the long term at another temperature.
How Many Bottles Can Large Capacity Wine Coolers Accommodate?
Our range of large-capacity wine coolers is designed to accommodate large wine collections. They are designed to store standard Bordeaux bottles, although many of our models feature removable and adjustable shelving, allowing you to store larger bottles, such as Champagne bottles.
Our smallest, large-capacity wine fridge can store just 50 bottles - however, our largest wine fridge in this collection can store a colossal 312 bottles spread across six beech wood shelves. If you’re looking for a smaller wine fridge, check out these small built-in wine coolers.
The Advantages of a Large-Capacity Wine Cooler
A large-capacity wine cooler offers several advantages for wine enthusiasts and collectors alike. Firstly, a large-capacity wine cooler provides ample storage space for a vast collection of wines, allowing for easy organisation and accessibility.
With multiple temperature zones, a large-capacity wine cooler can accommodate a variety of wines, including reds, whites, and champagnes, with each type stored at the optimal temperature and humidity level.
In addition to storage space, a large-capacity wine cooler often comes with additional features that enhance the overall wine storage experience.
For instance, many models come with LED lighting that not only illuminates the bottles but also adds an elegant touch to the wine storage area. Others may have adjustable shelves, making it easier to store bottles of various sizes and shapes.
A large-capacity wine cooler also provides peace of mind for wine collectors, as it offers a stable environment for wine ageing and preservation. With advanced temperature and humidity control systems, large-capacity wine coolers can prevent temperature fluctuations and UV light exposure, which can harm the taste and quality of wine over time.
Lastly, a large-capacity wine cooler can add value to a home, especially for wine enthusiasts who entertain frequently. A well-designed and stylish wine cooler can create a beautiful focal point in a room and enhance the overall ambience and aesthetic of a home.
Investing in a large-capacity wine cooler provides many benefits for wine collectors, enthusiasts, and homeowners, making it an excellent investment for those who value the taste, quality, and preservation of their wine collection.
Large Capacity Wine Cooler Price Range
The price range for a large wine cooler typically starts at around £400 and can go up to £4000 or more. The price will depend on the size, features, and brand of the wine cooler. Generally, larger wine coolers will cost more than smaller coolers due to their increased storage capacity.
In addition to size, the price can be influenced by the number of temperature zones, the type of compressor, the insulation quality, and the overall design and build quality. High-end models with advanced features and premium design will generally be more expensive than budget-friendly models.
It's important to consider the long-term cost of ownership when choosing a large-capacity wine cooler, as energy efficiency and durability can impact the overall value of the product.
High-end models with advanced features and technology may come with a higher upfront cost, but they may also offer greater energy savings and longer lifespans, ultimately providing better value for money over time.
When shopping for a large wine fridge, it's essential to determine your storage needs and budget - and consider the features and performance that are most important to you to make an informed purchasing decision.
Additionally, it's a good idea to read reviews and compare prices and features across different brands and models to find the best value for your money.
By taking the time to research and compare, you can ensure that you are investing in a large-capacity wine cooler that meets your storage needs and provides optimal performance and value.
